The Tooth Fairy and her Tooth Costumes and Happy Halloween!

 

Happy Halloween!!I hope you and your family are having a great time Trick or Treating and celebrating my favorite holiday!

This was one of the most fun costumes we've done. 

I got the idea from Julie Ann Art, the blog. She has a tutorial on her blog on how to make the tooth. While it seems easy, it is incredibly awkward to sew. Her instructions are great, it was just awkward. I got through it and I really don't want to throw the huge thing away because I spent a long time on it. Anyone need a giant tooth costume??!

Maybe we'll just use it as a pillow.

 I loved this idea because I got to make a fun tutu. And the wand was ridiculously fun to make, too. I'm not a "princess"-type, but making and wearing that tutu were really fun. My friends got a kick out of me wearing a tiara. I don't think it has ever happened before and probably won't again.  

 I also made the collar necklace. I never intended on using it afterward, but now I kinda love it. Ha. I wasn't sure about that trend until I wore it. I'm going to try to do a tutorial on it soon. :) I'll probably do one on the wand, too. I want to make more to use as pointers in my classroom. 

 My friends had some pretty awesome costumes, too! A lady bug, a tooth fairy, a fox, a stylish Native American, and a pirate are obvious friends.

Fall Scarves!

Oh my gosh. Today was so cold compared to what it has been like! I was so glad I had this scarf! Scarves really do make you so much warmer. This infinity scarf and the ruffle one below are SO easy to make. It's worth the 20 minutes or so it takes to do! I used this easy infinity scarf tutorial. 

 I also made this ruffle scarf from that fun silky fabric you always see and don't know what to do with. 

The black with gold dots is perfect and just in time for HALLOWEEN!

Sorry I've been so MIA. October is my favorite month, but also the busiest month. Parent Teacher conferences, halloween costume sewing, getting sick, etc.

New Fall Wreath! A Gold and Orange Pumpkin Patch

While I love my fall wreath from last year, I needed something new. And I LOVE this wreath even more.

I am so excited about enjoying it until the Christmas decorations go up! 

 If you haven't figured it out yet, I love gold and I think gold and orange together is SO pretty for fall. 

I'm loving the orange and gold with that vibrant green, too. 

I got my inspiration from this beautiful wreath on Etsy:

Pumpkin Patch Wreath

If you'd like to make a wreath like mine, read on! 

First lets paint some pumpkins. Find some dollar store pumpkins. Paint some gold and then leave the rest orange. I used pumpkins that were all roughly the same size. Above you can see that I also "antiqued" the gold pumpkins as well. I love that look. 

I used gold spray paint to paint all the pumpkins gold first and then once dry, I used this water-based stain in Walnut. I got the idea to antique pumpkins from here, but my process was a little different since I used a different paint. 

 Paint your gold pumpkin completely with the stain and then use a clean paper towel to wipe off the stain where you don't want it. Let dry. Easy! 

Making the wreath is super easy too. 

This part is optional, but makes the wreath look clean and professional. Wrap the straw wreath form in strips of green fabric. (You only need half a yard.)

 Then use hot glue to attach moss to the front part of the wreath. There's no need to waste the moss on the back of the wreath since it's covered with the green fabric.

 Then simply glue on your pumpkins! If you want to add some berries, simply stick in some springs on the sides. I didn't even glue this part.

 

 Add a fun bow to the top. 

 And enjoy. :)
