Sew Along for Japan

LivingwithPunks
I gathered and bought all my supplies for this sweet shirt this weekend and will be participating in the Sew Along for Japan! It starts today!!

Don't know about it? Here's the scoop:
Pink Fig Design has created this shirt and is asking for more to be made and sent to her so she can send them all to some contacts of hers in Japan. Her friends in Japan will then distribute them to girls (and boys with the adapted version found on Living with Punks) who need them.

You can get the downloadable pattern and instructions here, but you can also see the step-by-step (which is what I need!!) at Living with Punks this week!

Chelsea of Pink Fig recently was a guest on U-Create saying that she is particularly concerned for Japan's children in this time of crisis. The names, Chloe and Mieko have special meanings, as well. Read more at U-Create.

I thought it was a great idea.

And the shirt is just so cute.
It's supposed to be a sign of love the Americans have for Japan in their time of need.
You should head on over and do it, too!

I wish I could have started today, but my printer isn't working. While I remembered to print the pattern at work (shhh...this kind of thing is not really allowed.), I left it. at. work. I'll just catch up tomorrow...

Go Cats Wreath and Big Blue Earrings

After the win over OSU,  I couldn't help but make this wreath.

Remember this wreath from St. Patrick's Day? And that the flowers were interchangeable?
Well I was planning on changing it to a spring theme this weekend, but got side-tracked.
While I live in Ohio, my heart resides in Kentucky. Since I grew up in and around Lexington, Home of the Wildcats, it's so weird to live in a place that isn't decked out in "Kentucky Blue." Instead, there is Ohio State gear everywhere--ick.

While I'm not a hardcore sports fan, if there's one thing I'll watch, it's UK basketball. People in Kentucky are crazy about their basketball.

I don't think many people (besides most of the diehard UK basketball fans) thought the cats would upset the #1 team Ohio State, but they did. And it was wonderful.
They're playing UNC right now. Up at the half. Go CATS!

To make your own Sports-Themed Wreath, you do the same thing I showed you in the tutorial(s) in this post. The only thing I changed were the flowers and the bunting. I made the flags on the bunting half circles instead of triangles. I also used wooden letters from Wal-Mart painted white instead of fabric letters.
Since it's interchangeable, I took the green flowers off, kept the white ones and spread them apart.
  And just added blue ones!

I also made some more button covered earrings to wear for the game.
Ready!

I thought I liked the polka dot ones the best, but those lace ones are super fun.

Hope you're having fun cheering on the cats decked out in blue like Matty and me are!

Check back in this week to see a tutorial on this flower:

Winners!!! And GO CATS!

Crazy Week and Anthro Finds

source
Kinda feeling like that guy this week. But with more hair.

This week=

 Report cards.

Conferences.

Research paper.

Whew.

I am crafting, too....sewing actually...in the late hours of the evening when I should be sleeping.
No finished products yet...

So here's a different kind of post. :)

Have you seen all the beautiful jewelry at Anthropologie lately?

There are always crafters re-doing Anthro jewelry-particularly necklaces.
(Flamingo Toes has an Anthro Necklace week going on now!)

I even make jewelry pretty frequently and don't want to try to remake some of their stuff-nor do I have the materials/equipment to do so-because it's so pretty as is.

Their earrings are really great right now.
I NEED those Tulle Viola earrings.and the Sera Petal Posts probably, too.

And how pretty are these?
And look at them in teal!
Ok these are just ridiculous. But you'll have that now and again with anthro.
Really wishing that cuff wasn't $198.

The earrings are mostly affordable-if you're into paying a little more for nice jewelry.
Cuff-not so much, but it is all beautiful
(minus the cats because they're just weird.)

I also might need this.

My New Motto

This is my life motto. For real.

And it just makes myself feel better about my ridiculous mess I tend to create everywhere-craft room, kitchen, laundry room, classroom, etc. I may need to print it out, frame it, and hang it in every room.

I have better things to do than clean.  Always.

Unfortunately, the mess gets so ridiculous some days it has to be cleaned before anymore creativity can take place.

Or I just create on top of the mess. For proof, see this post.

I just found that great printable at Homestitched
There are some other versions, too. I added a border to this one so it would show up on my blog.

Now I'm off to add to my school mess of assessments, report cards, and conference forms so I can hopefully have time to add to my crafty mess later this week.

The Annie Necklace Giveaway! And Earrings, too!!

In celebration of 100+ followers of Miss Lovie, the day has come:
the Miss Lovie Jewelry Giveaway!
WOO HOO!
Anyone who knows me, knows I am not a lover of all things pink. Reds are more my cup of tea. Even though I don't love pink, I would wear the heck out of this necklace. When I showed it to Matt, he said, "I love it. I'd wear it." Ha. So hopefully you would, too.
Besides, that pink isn't too bubblegum-y. It's a nice pink.

This necklace would be perfect dressed up with a sweet summer dress or more casual with a light sweater and tank!

The Annie necklace is valued at $30, and is a mix of gold plated and antiqued bronze chains, pink rhinestone chain woven throughout the large antiqued bronze chain, huge glass pearls, and a beautiful pink faceted flower cabochon with a rhinestone center from Japan. The chain is adjustable so you can wear it at different lengths. I like to wear it so the flower and antiqued bronze bead sit at the collar bones.

This necklace reminds me of my friend Annie, thus the name.

Update 3/26/2011: I made earrings to match the necklace! The lucky winner will now receive earrings to match! This increases the value of the necklace/earrings combo to $40! Good luck!

AND since I'm feeling super nice today, you can enter to win that necklace and earring combo OR these earrings
Yep! I'll be picking TWO winners!

Another person can win the three pairs of earrings valued at $32 total!
Large antiqued bronze leaves with 2 glass pearls attached
